Romanens 80 år gamle hovedperson er enkemand og befinder sig i livets sidste kapitel, da hans datter omkommer i et flystyrt. Glemsomheden og alderdommens fysiske ubehag træder i baggrunden, da han rammes af sorgen, mens han venter på udleveringen af ligresterne. Cipriano – meet Marta Orrantia
Colombian author Marta Orrantia had her Danish debut with the novel Livet i bakspejlet (Spanish title: Cipriano). The 80-year-old protagonist of the story is a widower and finds himself in the late stage of his life when his daughter dies in a plane crash. The displeasures of old age, the forgetfulness, the insomnia, and the consciousness of nearby death step into the background, as he is struck by sorrow and awaits the arrival of the remains of his daughter. Meet Marta Orrantia in a talk about the novel with Danish author Puk Qvortrup. The event will be in English.
