Andri Snær Magnason (IS)
Andri Snær Magnason is an Icelantic writer, documentarist and environmentalist, who has written On Time and Water, which has been translated to more than 30 languages and has become an Icelandic bestseller.
On Time and Water is a unique and deeply personal examination of the environmental crisis and its global impact. Magnason combines scientific descriptions, like the CO2 emission per person and mythological perspectives such as Buddhist teachings and Norse understandings of the worlds creation, with his own personal memoirs. Magnason focuses on stories from his childhood and his grandparents’ travels to the Okjökull glacier, that has later disappeared.
Magnason has won several prizes for his writing and was nominated for The Nordic Councel Literature Prize in 2021 for On Time and Water.
